Signe is a company specialized in the printing of secure documents and the development of technological solutions for fraud prevention and identity protection.

Since Signe was founded in 1982, how has document security evolved from high-security printing to today’s digital trust services?

Signe has evolved from protecting documents on paper—special inks, substrates, and different printing techniques (intaglio, silk screen, offset…)— to secure end-to-end digital lifecycles: qualified signatures, verifiable credentials, and transferable electronic records.

What has not changed is the goal: binding identity, generating confidence and integrity to avoid fraud. Today that means combining our printing capacities with platforms such as URUK (electronic signature platform), eDiploma, our credentials platform, and ETR solutions, always aligned with trust frameworks like ISO 14298 and eIDAS.

eIDAS and EU Digital Identity Wallets — how is Signe preparing?

We are extending our trust services so issuers and relying parties can participate in the EUDI Wallet ecosystem without rebuilding their processes.

eDiploma and our credentials platform allow to issue and verify the lifecycle of academic and professional credentials (including Europass/EDC-oriented models).

URUK supports the signing and evidence layer for contracts and administrative flows that wallets and public services connect to.

Our approach is standards-first, phased rollout: pilots, API integration, and compliance with qualified trust requirements where applicable.

How does your Signe platform (URUK) specifically enhance the traceability and security of sensitive documents compared to traditional digital solutions?

URUK goes beyond storing PDFs: it orchestrates who signs what, when, and under which policy, with certified notifications, timestamps, and a complete audit trail. Sensitive documents gain tamper-evident records and optional blockchain-backed integrity where it adds independent proof—not as a gimmick, but as part of legal-grade evidence.

For academic and professional assets, eDiploma and the credentials platform add online verification and standard-based checks. Together, traceability follows the document or credential lifecycle, not just the file.

As a specialist in both physical and digital security, how do you bridge the gap between security printing and digital authentication for your clients?

Clients often need both physical trust features and digital assurance during a long transition.

Signe designs one trust chain: high-security printing and personalization on one side, and on the other URUK, eTítulo, and verifiable credentials—with verification paths that link physical and digital where the use case requires it.

We help issuers avoid two disconnected vendors and reduce gaps that fraudsters exploit between “the secure paper” and “the digital copy

What do you see as the next major challenge in fraud prevention, and how is your R&D department addressing it for the next generation of security products?

The next wave is AI-scale fraud: synthetic identities, forged documents, and automated abuse of signing and onboarding flows. We address it across physical and digital documents.

In the paper part we develop and test solutions in our laboratories that strength not only the security but also the durability and sustainability of them (recycled and eco materials, more sustainable inks… ).

In the digital field, URUK strengthens process evidence and step-up signing; the credentials platform and eDiploma rely on verifiable standards, revocation, and issuer-led trust; our ETR platform focuses on control and integrity of transferable instruments such as promissory notes.

As you said, in an era of AI-driven fraud, how do your solutions guarantee the integrity of credentials to maintain the high level of trust your brand is known for?

Due to the rapid advancement of AI and its ability to generate fraudulent documents and highly convincing fake content, we believe that paper and physical formats are becoming increasingly relevant once again.

With AI, you can generate an identity document, a registration certificate, or even an event ticket in a matter of seconds. However, you cannot replicate the full range of sophisticated security features embedded in a professionally printed physical document.

That is why, at Signe, we are working on the integration of both physical and digital security. By combining the strengths of each, we can create a much more robust and resilient ecosystem, where physical security features complement digital technologies and make documents significantly harder to counterfeit or manipulate.

What key innovations will you be showcasing at TRUSTECH this year? Particularly regarding the convergence of digital identification and secure payment systems?

At TRUSTECH, we will showcase how SIGNE connects identity, documents and transaction trust across the physical and digital worlds.

We believe the future of trust is not simply digital. It is hybrid.

As more identities, credentials and transactions move into digital environments, protecting the physical documents behind many of those processes remains critical. A passport, an identity document or another sensitive credential can be both a highly secure physical object and the starting point for trusted digital interactions.

So, for us, the key innovation is not a single technology. It is the ability to connect these different layers of trust: advanced security printing, secure personalisation and physical credentials with digital identity, electronic signatures, verifiable credentials and traceability.

At TRUSTECH, we want to show how these technologies can work together as one trust ecosystem, protecting not only the document or the digital transaction, but the entire journey between physical identity and digital interaction.
