Conference: Identity for Government - reconciling interoperability with sovereignty

As part of the main 2020 theme track “Identity for society and economy” this conference taking place at TRUSTECH in early December will take stock of major progress and developments in the field of digital sovereignty and interoperability practices.

It is intended for a large audience among the TRUSTECH attendees, in particular members of  Governments, Institutions or Administrations, Official and functional ID professionals, public as well as  private services requiring ID or authentication and also International ONG and stakeholders and ID chain procurement professionals.

Here is a preview of the key topics and issues which will be discussed at this one-day conference which will be comprised of two sessions:

1.Improvements in digital services and identities worldwide

This first session will highlight significant cases from different countries all over the globe showing progress in digital services and identities for governments.  It will shed light on new milestones in the field of social and financial inclusions and address, amongst others, the status quo of the United Nations’ goal of an “Identity for all” in 2030 as we are heading into the next decade.

This conference will also reveal the most remarkable innovations and developments in the field of registration, enrolment, credentializing and authentication practices and show their impact on trust, e-government and services delivery. Furthermore attendees will learn what are the best strategies and solutions to answering cross border needs. Finally the speakers will share with the audience how to combine better legal and technological frameworks.

2. European Focus:  the state of play in digital services in public and private sectors

The afternoon session will focus on Europe, taking stock of developments in digital services in public but also private sectors. It will question whether the identity landscape can become more integrated within Europe. A panel of experts in ID will address the needs in identity management in 2020 to build a structured digital society and economy and discuss what can be expected from new regulation projects issued by the EU Commission.

Attendees will learn more about the perspective for the future of data ecosystems, privacy and trust and the need of current subsidiary rules to evolve.

This track will be particularly instructive in a Post COVID19 context as it will address the lessons to be learned from the Coronavirus epidemic in the need & evolution of secure and interoperable digital identity.

The Coronavirus epidemic has brought sanitary emergency throughout the world also leading billions of humans’ beings into confinement. During this time-length most of individuals and businesses have conducted their activities through digital services and electronic communications.

The need for sound ecosystems with personalized and reliable services has increased. Nations, communities and businesses are fighting to experience the benefits of secure and interoperable identities to interact online and deliver risk free added value. Consumers and citizens grasp the benefits of strong authentication and enhanced identities respectful of privacy, to be able to interact online and claim, consent, pay, decide, or notify, upon their will.

This common experience will likely foster the need to boost national digital schemes and ecosystems. Consequently, we believe it will create an opportunity for further evolution on interoperable and secure identities. In this context, TRUSTECH being held in early December 2020 will bring a momentum to understand, discuss and engage into the Post Covid 19 trust digital perspective ahead.
